When is the IPL 2023 auction date
The IPL auction for next year’s tournament is taking place today in Kochi, and will start at 9:30 am BST
How does the IPL Auction work
Each franchise can have a maximum of 25 on a team and a minimum of 18, and no more than eight of them can be outside players
Teams have already made decisions about who they choose to keep, which means franchises have varying numbers of spots to fill and different budgets as a result
Delhi Capitals for example can choose five more players, two of whom are overseas, while Sunrisers Hyderabad have 13 spots to fill if they choose to do so
There are 405 players entered in the auction, although there are only 87 spots left to fill, including 30 overseas players. Each player has a base price that cannot be sold for less than
